15 days notice period calculator
A 15-day notice is short, common at startups and in early-career or probation roles. Enter your resignation date to see your exact last working day, and use leave or a buyout to leave even sooner.
Days you won't serve — leave you adjust against notice, or notice you buy out — bring your last day earlier. Use a negative number to add days instead.

How notice periods work in India
When you resign, your notice period is the time you agree to keep working before you leave. It's written in your offer letter or contract. For most roles in India it's 30, 60 or 90 days, and senior roles often sit at the higher end. Startups and early-career jobs sometimes keep it to 15 or 30 days.
Your notice usually starts from the day you formally resign, which is the day you send your resignation email or letter, not the day your manager replies. Your last working day, also called your relieving date, is that start date plus your notice period. Get it right and you can line up your new joining date, your leave and your final salary without an awkward overlap.
Knowing the exact date early helps you plan the gap between jobs. If your new employer wants you to join on the 1st, work backwards from your last working day and check whether you need leave or a buyout to make it. A few days of overlap is fine; a month of unpaid gap usually isn't. Tell your new company a realistic joining date, not an optimistic one, so you're not renegotiating later.
Calendar days vs working days
Most Indian companies count notice in calendar days. A 60-day notice from 1 October means your last working day is 30 November, weekends and holidays included. That's the default in this calculator.
A few companies, and some contracts, count in working days (Monday to Friday). Sixty working days is about three calendar months, so the difference is large. Check your contract or ask HR which one applies before you promise a joining date to your next employer.
Using leave to shorten your notice
If you have earned leave saved up, many companies let you adjust it against your notice. Say your notice is 60 days and you have 10 days of leave: you serve 50 days and take the last 10 as leave, so you stop coming to office earlier. Put those days in the leave or buyout box and the calculator moves your last working day forward.
This isn't automatic. Some companies don't allow leave during notice, or only part of it. Confirm it in writing with your manager and HR before you count on it.
Notice buyout
A buyout is when you pay the company for the notice days you don't serve, so you can leave early. Sometimes your new employer pays it for you as a joining perk. The amount is usually based on your basic salary for those days, but the exact rule is in your contract. Buyout days shorten your notice the same way leave does, so add them to the same box.
What to do in your last two weeks
The last stretch matters as much as the exit date:
- Hand over cleanly. Write a short handover note, list your pending work, and share passwords and documents with your manager. A good handover is what people remember.
- Ask for your relieving letter. This letter proves you left properly and served your notice. Your next company will ask for it during background checks, so don't leave without it.
- Confirm your full and final settlement. This is your last payout: remaining salary, unused leave encashment, any bonus, minus deductions. Ask HR when it will be paid and get it in writing.
- Return company assets. Laptop, ID card, access cards. Get an acknowledgement so nothing is held against your settlement later.
Work out your date, plan backwards, and you'll switch jobs without burning a bridge.
