Privacy policy

The short version

• You can use Jobsmith's tools without an account.
• When you paste or upload a resume, it's processed in memory to give you a result. We never save it to disk or a database.
• If you sign in, we keep only what we need to run your account: your name, email address and profile photo from Google, the date you joined and how often you use each tool.
• If you use a tool without signing in, we briefly hold your IP address to apply daily free limits. It's cleared at midnight India time and never linked to what you type.
• We don't sell your data.

What happens to your resume

When you use a tool, the text you paste or the file you upload is sent to our server, processed in memory and thrown away once your result is ready. We don't store it in a database, write it to disk or keep it in our logs.

Some tools use AI. For those, we send the text needed for that one result to our AI provider, DeepSeek, which may process it outside India. We don't attach your account details to it.

What we keep if you sign in

Signing in is optional and uses your Google account. If you sign in, we keep:

• your name, email address and profile photo from Google
• the date you joined
• which tools you use and how many times a day, so we can apply free usage limits

We don't keep what you type into a tool or the results it gives you.

Analytics and cookies

We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to see which pages and tools people use, so we know what to improve. It records things like the pages you visit, your device type and your approximate location. It doesn't record what you type into a tool.

Your light or dark theme choice is saved in your browser. If you sign in, a cookie keeps you signed in.

Your rights over your data

You can ask us to do any of these at any time. India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 makes them legal rights as its provisions come into force.

• tell you what personal data we hold about you
• correct or update it
• delete it and close your account
• withdraw your consent, as easily as you gave it, for example by asking us to delete your account
• let someone you nominate use these rights for you if you die or can't act for yourself
• respond to a complaint about how we've handled your data

Email founder@jobsmith.io from the address linked to your account. If you're not happy with our reply, you'll be able to complain to the Data Protection Board of India once those provisions are in force.

How long we keep data

• Resumes and tool inputs: not kept at all.
• IP addresses for free limits: held in memory until midnight India time, then cleared.
• Account data: until you delete your account. We delete it within 30 days of your request.
• Server logs: kept for a short time to fix errors and stop abuse. They never contain your resume or what you type into a tool.

Age

Jobsmith is meant for people aged 18 and over.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For big changes, we'll also email signed-in users.
