Top keywords recruiters look for in an electrical engineer resume

Work in the ones that are true for you: in your summary, your skills line and your experience bullets.

  • PLC / SCADA
  • VFD / drives
  • Preventive maintenance
  • Breakdown maintenance
  • Single-line diagrams
  • Relay & protection
  • DG sets
  • Energy audit
  • AutoCAD Electrical
  • Earthing & safety
  • Motor control centres
  • Indian Electricity Rules
  • Substation operation

3 mistakes electrical engineer resumes make

  1. One vague “electrical maintenance” bullet

Break it up. Name the voltage level and the equipment, such as 11 kV panels, 1,000 kVA transformers or DG sets, and your own role in breakdowns and shutdowns.

  2. No downtime or savings figures

Plants care about uptime and units. “Cut panel downtime by 20 hours a month” or “saved 4% energy through VFDs” turns a duty into a result.

  3. Licences and certificates missing

A supervisor or wireman licence, CEIG exposure and PLC training can decide a shortlist. List them with the issuing body and year, near the top.
